Start by lifting any large areas of mold and removing them from the carpet.

Without these elements fungi can thrive and while mushrooms in bathrooms and basements are more common because of these reasons mushrooms growing out of carpet is a big red flag.
If there is wood under the carpet this is likely the nutrition for the fungus.
If carpet mushrooms are present carpeting and flooring need to be removed.
Basically we ve reported the radiator leaking since 2 or 3 weeks after we moved in and nothing has been done they know there s damp coming through the ceiling and the plaster is peeling away but now there are mushrooms growing out of the carpet.
But it could be the carpet itself too.
The areas need to be thoroughly treated for mold and fungus.

If you have a problem with mushrooms coming up from the carpet then this is a sign that you have a mold problem growing underneath the carpet.
Either way i d suggest getting that mushroom off of there and spraying down the area with a generous amount of lysol which is an excellent fungicide.
Luckily it s a room used for storage at the minute but i don t know what to do.
